Talking Our Walk
From the Editors

…people are evolving beings, capable of changing and growing toward an ideal. People can always improve themselves. That is part of our greatness. And that ability to improve ourselves can develop at any moment in life.
~ Mark Fisher

Welcome to our August/September issue. This is our Back to School edition, focusing on lessons and new beginnings. Creations Magazine is now in its 22nd year, and Andrea and I have entered our 4th year as publishers/editors.

Our cover title, Rise Above is a call for us to go beyond the status quo of our daily activities – and to see things from a broader perspective. When we bring the bigger picture into focus, we are less likely to judge and jump to conclusions. We can then become aware of the limitless range of possibilities before us.

In this issue, Spiritual teacher, Andrew Cohen thinks it is time to Raise the Bar. If we lessen the gap between our inner and outer selves, we can expect greater results from our spiritual practice.

Steve Taylor tells us that our only hope for living in peace and harmony on this planet, is to Transcend Human Madness. It is our “over-developed ego” that fuels our desire for power and possessions.

NY Times best-selling author Lynn Andrews teaches us that we gain Enlightenment from Adversity. It is within life’s daily struggles, that essential lessons are learned.

Michelle Molin shows us that teachers come in all sizes. It’s A Nice “Little” Story. And what better teacher than His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to explain that Our Greatest Happiness Comes from Love and Compassion.

Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller supply a schoolbag of Better Parenting Tools. These are handy tips for producing healthier family relationships.

It may be Back to School for the kids, but it does not have to mean Back to Junk Food. Joshua Rosenthal, director of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City, feeds us healthy school lunch alternatives that are tasty, simple and easy to pack.

Finally, re my mom’s eulogy, which we printed in our previous issue: Reader response was both overwhelming and unexpected. In fact, we received more correspondence from this piece, than from all of our articles over the past three years combined! So many folks were touched in so many ways. The more poignant responses included those who told us that the article helped them better cope with their own losses. The incredible outpouring of kindness is something that my brother, sister and I will never forget.

In Peace & Gratitude,
