The Quantum Activist
A film by Ri Stewart & Renee Slade
Featuring Amit Goswami, Ph.D., Theoretical Quantum Physicist
Intention Media / BlueDot Productions
www.quantumactivist.com

“In Quantum Physics, objects are not determined things. Objects are possibilities. Possibilities of what? Possibilities for consciousness to choose from.” So begins The Quantum Activist, a film packed with information countering the current scientific paradigm, as well as the reasons for the need to re-negotiate that model. Straddling scientific and religious world views, Dr. Goswami introduces many concepts, tying them together with a logic that begs absolute attention. I admit to having to watch certain parts a couple of times to fully understand some concepts. How God is related to consciousness, how science needs to be based upon the primacy of consciousness, the pitfalls and incompleteness of current materialist science, bottom-up versus downward causation, what makes manifestation work (and not work), creativity, the morphogenetic field and chakras, the pitfalls of the ego . . . these topics are but a fraction of the subjects discussed by Dr. Goswami. But far from being a “dry lecture,” the doctor is entertaining and humorous, as well as passionate about his work. A brief biographical section at the beginning of the film introduces us to this very human scientist. Ending with an invitation for us all to become quantum activists, this film distinguishes itself from others by virtue of Dr. Goswami’s depth of thought and breadth of application of the principles he introduces. Highly recommended.

Summer Reflections

Summer Reflections is an apt name for this mostly lighthearted, pleasant collection of songs, reminiscent of summer musings, long days, and warm nights. Featuring acoustic piano in the main, and nicely orchestrated, this is a simple, peaceful album, perfect to daydream to. A nice job.

There is warmth to her voice and an ease to her singing style. She writes just about all of her material. Her lyrics are interesting and insightful, and if you think you’ve pinned her down as a folk singer, she’ll surprise you in the next cut with more of a jazzy sound, or a pop sound, or a country sound. Corinne West has produced another winning album, impressive in so many ways. With a tight group of backup musicians, this album is sure to please.

Jane Leslie’s piano compositions are at times romantic and lush, at other times upbeat and pop, but they are never clichéd. Her performances are sensitive and deep and, in this offering, she presents a nicely varied program of piano solos. ‘Breezin’ is fun, plain and simple, while ‘Bittersweet’ is a perfect musical expression of that title – and truly beautiful. It would be an easy task to write about every selection on this album; they are all excellent. A pleasant job indeed to review music which so clearly expresses the joy of the composer. Well done, Jane Leslie!
