Talking Our Walk
From the Editors

“Do not harm the earth, she is your mother.” - Arthur Dobrin

Welcome to the Spring edition of Creations magazine. This season calls to mind, what just may be my favorite themes: rebirth, the Feminine, moms and of course the “mother of all mothers,” Mother Nature—the earth/environment. Individually, being reborn (born again?), is what many of us strive for. Certain aspects of us must first die off (winter), in order to allow for new growth (spring) and transformation. We have included in this issue articles that relate to each of these themes.

Before I present my usual overview, I must first mention the article that’s not here--in case some of you are looking for it. In our previous issue (Feb/Mar – Relationships), I had written Parental Poison, Part 1 – A Glimpse into the Nightmare of Parental Alienation. Part 2, A Search for Sanity, written by our newest staff member John Calabrese, had been slated for inclusion in this issue. Unfortunately, due to some “complications,” we have been advised not to run it at this time. And that’s unfortunate, because “A Search for Sanity” is solution oriented – offering parents tools to deal with their grief; among them—forgiveness. When we hold on to past hurts, anger and resentments, we disempower ourselves. We allow our thoughts toward others to maintain a firm grip on our psyche and on our level of happiness. These negative thoughts produce toxins, both emotional and physical, which only lead to our self-destruction. Forgiveness is not designed to change yesterday, but it will most assuredly help to create a healthier today and tomorrow. Throughout my entire life, my Mother has attempted to instill this lesson in me. I have just recently discovered the transformative power of forgiveness. 47 years later, I finally get it.

Now let’s get back to what you will find in this issue. The month of April ushers in warmer weather, blossoms, birds and naturally– thoughts of Spring Cleaning. Our Urban Shaman, Donna Henes shares a pile of “Housecleaning” tips in her excerpt “Letting Go of All That Does Not Serve.”

Larry Alboher, a first time Creations’ contributor, offers solutions for healing our planet entitled, “Toward a Sacred Ecology.” He asserts that we exist in wholeness and in relationship with the natural world of interconnected energies (spirits). “Whatever we do to the Earth and to others, we ultimately do to ourselves.”

Drew Rozell is another Creations’ first-timer. He debuts with “Dandy Lions,” referring to his new perspective on the dandelion. This “wildflower” helped him to discover that, “the tendency to pay attention to what others think drowns out our inner knowing as to what’s really right for us,” thus keeping us in careers, relationships, etc., that do not really suit us.

Noted authors Ariel & Shya Kane, return to these pages with “Waking Up From the Dream.” The Kanes share with us, how their experience of disillusionment gave rise to their own self-realization. When one becomes disillusioned--free of illusion and false ideas-- one sees the truth as it is, and not as one would prefer it to be.

You may have noticed that Creations is growing. Andrea and I have now added 12 pages since we’ve taken over. And next issue we’ll roll out the redesigned and updated Creations Magazine. Creations is being reborn and we can’t wait to welcome the new arrivals. We hope you share our excitement and that you will be pleased with the results.

Well, we’ve provided the seeds and the organic soil. Now it’s up to you to plant them (spiritual activism), encourage their growth (transformation), and Spring into Life!

Peace and
Blessings,
