Talking Our Walk
From the Editors

It is no longer good enough to cry peace. We must act peace, live peace and live in peace.
~The Shenandoah

Gandhi certainly echoed these sentiments when he said we must be the change we wish to see in the world. But as anti-war sentiment sweeps the world, hostilities continue to escalate. The more we “fight” against war the more war rages on. Clearly, this approach is not working. It is time to shift our consciousness to creating peace, instead of fighting war. Paradoxically, the focus on ending war seems only to invite more war – even though this is not what we want. At work, is the Law of Attraction. Whatever is in your mind, you are attracting and manifesting. Thoughts become things, and accordingly, your experiences. This Universal Law is illustrated in an extraordinary film called The Secret.

While I do not ordinarily review films–we have a very fine film & music reviewer (be certain to read Mark Maxwell Abushady’s review of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth), I am compelled to write about The Secret because seeing this DVD is definitely a transformational experience. According to the film, this secret has transformed the lives of those who have lived it—among them Plato, Carnegie, Beethoven and Einstein.
The Law of Attraction operates in every aspect of our lives: happiness, health, wealth. What you focus on with thought and feeling is what you attract into your experience whether it’s what you want or not. Those who constantly focus on health problems tend to suffer the poorest health. Most folks wish to be debt-free, yet never seem to be able to dig out of that financial hole. Changing our mind-set is imperative. The universe is limitless and life is meant to be abundant in all things. Think, feel and visualize robust health. Say that “Money comes easily and frequently” Even jot it down. If it’s a relationship you are seeking, see yourself with a wonderful partner. Ask for what you want and express gratitude in the present tense, “I am so happy and grateful now that I am …in a loving relationship … enjoying perfect health… living financially free…Creations Magazine has many more paying
advertisers”—well you get the idea.

What you think about and “thank about” is what you attract to yourself. Your thoughts create feelings and your feelings manifest your reality. The universe is based upon Attraction and you are activating thoughts whether you are focusing on the past, present or future. Buddha proclaimed, “All that we are is the result of what we have thought.” You do not even have to fully understand how this works. Martin Luther King encouraged us to “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just the first step.”

In this issue, Kent Nerburn advocates Embracing the Mystery. “Life is a dream we renew each day.” Swami Kriyananda whittles this concept down even further in The Breath of Change, teaching us “every lifetime is as fleeting as a single breath.” Robert Wicks encourages us to Make Time to Change. While we often have time to complain endlessly and watch hours of mindless television, we do not usually take the time to reflect and take stock of our own lives. Nutritionally speaking, All Carbs Are Not Created Equal. Joshua Rosenthal helps us to change any misconceptions we may be clinging to regarding our carbohydrate food selections. Daniel O’Rourke offers a book review deluxe presenting Thomas Ricks’ bestseller on the Iraq War, called FIASCO. And finally, Parental Poison, Part II has been released.
