The Promise of Wellness
by Alicia • Brooklyn, NY

Just the other day, I received a phone call from a woman who was interested in participating in the Fibroids in the Uterus Study, being conducted by Crystal Reflections and me. She was trying to find out some of the characteristics of the current participants to determine if she would fit in.

I pointed out to her that the participants weren’t from a “random sample” and because it isn’t random, I cannot say that most women who have fibroids are like this… (Note: Random samples are where participants are selected indiscriminately as in picking names unsystematically from a phone book. The more random the participants in a study, the more you can generalize the results of the study to the overall population.)
What the study will illustrate is: The participants have these common characteristic(s) and if another individual also has the same, it is possible for that person to obtain the same results as the participants in the study.

So far, what are the attributes of these participants? First and foremost, they are seekers, looking for answers outside of traditional medicine. Second, they are willing to take some risks and trust there could be an alternative way of handling their current situation(s). However, the most important element that has arisen from all these women is the perception that their illness is more than just a physical condition. There is the belief it could be related to their emotional or psychological state and they are willing to explore this possibility.

I am not surprised, however, for most people who tend to read the type of publications where the Study is being advertised are people looking for alternative ways of seeing the world, of healing physical ailments and living a balanced and healthy life.

What are you seeking as you read the articles, observe the ads, and connect to the publishers? Is it some physical ailment that is preventing you from enjoying your life? Or are you seeking help for a loved one, someone dear to you, who is in pain?

What if I were to say, 80% of physical illness is directly related to your emotional/psychological/spiritual states? Think for a moment about The Divine. Is illness just something that happens to you? Or is it a state of imbalance in the body? Have you heard that your body can heal itself? That it has the capacity to produce every chemical, vitamin, enzyme etc… to create health? Well, if it does, then why aren’t you healthy?

Examine your own life. When do you really take the time to stop and consider your health? Is it when you are sick, in the hospital -- filled with physical pain? Or do you address your emotional/psychological unwellness before you get sick? Do you pay attention to your unhappy relationship(s) with others, your dissatisfaction with your job, life and desires? For a majority, tolerance is employed in regard to emotional and psychological unwellness. Do you justify your choices, claiming they are a result of your associations and remembrances of past experiences? For example, not forgiving a wrong(s) that was done or declaring to self never to love again because of prior hurts and pain.

If each of your physical states of illness is really related to some concept, belief, or behavior you are currently experiencing in your life, would you at least be reflective about that? What if that pain in the heart is your refusal to let things go? Or those dysfunctional sexual relations are connected to the abuse you suffered as a child? How about the agony in your bones or joints —could it be your unwillingness to bend, to compromise? What about those headaches, do they exist because you refuse to change your perception of yourself and the world? Could those digestive problems have to do with feeling powerless in the world, or blaming others for your current state?

Take a moment. Be reflective! Think! Could my illness really be me? And if it is me, am I willing to do what it takes to be healthier? Will I be able to face my abusive childhood, forgive people who have wronged me, let go of concepts that I hold so dearly but no longer serve me? Am I willing to face my lower self, my ego, and begin to merge it with my higher self, so that my desires are more inline with my true purpose?

There are many questions being posed here, but deep change occurs when we begin to focus, question and reflect. Each participant in the Study is facing these questions. They are willing to do what it takes to bring about their own state of health. They are all saying in their own words “Okay Universe, prove to me the concepts and beliefs spoken by so many faithful are true. I will walk, the walk, I will endure seeing myself as I truly am, I will balance and transform my ideas and beliefs according to your Divine Will and then let me experience the state of health that has been promised to me!”
