Talking Our Walk

The world is not happening to us. We are happening to it. We are molding it, shaping it, creating the good and bad with our thoughts.

Welcome to the June–July Summer / Men’s Issue. With nature in full bloom, and the vacation vibe full on, summertime is especially ripe for passion, prosperity and abundance. Let’s dive in!

David Dennis states that The Anticipation of Success is a crucial aspect of a winner’s mindset. It provides the vital boost to summon our will.

Ann Albers tells us that No One – and No Thing Controls You! In truth, the world is no better or worse than it was in ancient times. The difference is that technology allows us to witness the best and worst of humanity as it happens.

Dr. Carolyn Kurle contends that we can make better decisions by Integrating Intuition and Logic, explaining, we frequently confuse logic with our thoughts, but they are not the same. Most of our thoughts are simply false stories running through our brains that hold no reality.

Working with the Magic and Mystery of Water, Alexandra Wenman suggests that as a metaphor for change, shifting from one state of being to another, moving with the flow of life, and maneuvering around obstacles, water is perhaps our ultimate teacher.

Pray to Be Wrong. Alan Cohen invokes A Course in Miracles which asks: Do you prefer that you be right or happy?

Boy, do I wish I was asked this question years ago! The “happy” part of the equation never even occurred to me. To paraphrase legendary football coach, Vince Lombardi, for me, being “right” wasn’t everything, it was the only thing!

Throughout my life, there have been so many “certainties” that I have dearly clung to. Strongly held absolute and unalterable convictions that I was most certainly “right” about … until, maybe, I wasn’t anymore. Some, even as recently as 3 years ago.

My views on pretty much every facet of life has shifted over the years, from religion, politics, diet and lifestyle, the environment, education, parenting, relationships, sex, money, sports, and even to birthday celebrations. Depending on the subject, my shifts have ranged from slight to seismic.

What I’m getting at is, during these days of deep divide, many of us are expending a whole lot of time and effort in an attempt to convince others of our current, tightly held convictions. But to what end? This destructive emotion / energy only fans the flames of anger and perpetuates this divisiveness. What about considering the notion of allowing consenting adults to follow their personal guidance, their soul path? And besides, there exists the very real possibility that your position will change over time — perhaps even unexpectedly soon.

Peace All-ways,

Neil & Andrea
